“About 8 years ago I started having problems with my feet / arches. I started wearing custom orthotics. I would buy two pair (one for running shoes, and the other for work shoes). Cost - $900. They would last for about 6-8 months then I would have to buy new ones. In December 2019 I went to get new ones, complaining that I needed more than this, as it was becoming extremely painful to walk most of the time. I was going on a trip, he recommended I get cortisone injections. I was able to get them at the clinic that day. I was given two cortisone injections – one in each foot. The left foot lasted until May 2020, and then I got another one. The right foot got about 4-5 more injections from January to June, and then I realized that they weren’t working anymore In May 2020, I spoke to my family doctor he referred me to other doctors, specialists throughout the city. From May 2020 until November 2020 I did every type of physiotherapy that exists for my feet. I paid over $12,000 in treatment for ultrasounds, icing my feet, heating my feet, shockwave therapy, accupunture, electromagnetic therapy, massage therapy, (I bought one that massages my feet) stretches – different types on insoles (I have had 7 different types of custom orthotics (which has cost me over $3000). I have done accupuncture and worn 5 different types of splints, braces to stretch my feet. In September, it was recommended that I get an MRI so they could see exactly what was going on. The waitlist was so long, I paid for them myself ($1500 for both feet) The specialist who recommended the MRI was no longer working at the clinic, and there was no one else who could see me. So, I paid for an MRI and had no one to help me. In January 2021 I found a chiropodiatrist who said he could help. I started from scratch (again): stretches, taping, leg brace (EQ brace - $300) and then custom orthotics ($700) and he gave me a cortisone injection in both feet ($80 each) in March 2021. The cortisone injection lasted until June 2021, and the pain has come back. When I go back to their office, I am told to keep trying different things, and I do, but it is not working. In September 2021 I contacted another place that I was referred to and went in for an appointment . He provided me with custom orthotics (a different type) $500 … and I wore those for about 3-4 weeks, but they were causing more pain. In October he provided me with a different type of orthotic, but that wasn’t helpful, and I took myself to the ER on November 14 as these orthotics were causing so much pain I could barely walk. The ER doctor provided me with medication for pain management and made a referral to another specialist It’s now mid-March and I still haven’t heard anything. In December I found this clinic online and was able to speak with Alexandra the next day. I was stunned to hear that yes, surgery is an option, and we set up an appointment. In February 2022 (COVID delays) I had the tendon release surgery. My friend and I drove up from Ottawa and home the same day. I woke up the next morning PAIN FREE. I didn’t even have “recovery pain”. It’s almost a month later, the stitches are gone, the pain is still gone, and I am slowly starting to put weight on my foot. I cannot express the amount of gratitude I have towards Alex and the clinic staff. She was absolutely phenomenal – quick text follow ups, weekly phone calls, and the assurance that I could contact her anytime. A HUGE thank you !!!”

“Alex and the staff at this clinic are amazing! I waited (like a Dingbat) for more than 2 years + to get the surgery for The Claw (ingrown toenail). After much pain and many pleas for squeezing me in for an emergency appoontment....I finally decided to DO IT. My Covid-19, self-isolation, resolution! I was in disbelief 🤔 when there was not even one tweak of pain after the surgery. I was well equipped with pain relievers- but not 1 was required. I know we are all different but the reason I put off the surgery for so long was because I have a very low tolerance for physical pain- I usually faint. I hope my experience encourages others to not delay. Alex was incredibly gentle which I'm sure made a difference afterwards. If she hadn't shown me The Claw afterwards on the tray- I wouldn't have believed it was gone. Thank you 😊!”

“I'm honestly so grateful for meeting Matthew at Royal city! I went to him for an issue with an ingrown and in the process of dealing with an infection in my foot, that I thought was being dealt with by my Dr. this process began at the end of September. Matthew took such good care of my issues constantly having me back to keep an eye out. After 2 months of 3 different antibiotics he seemed to be the only person that was actually "digging" for the problem to find the solution!!
