“My first appointment at Concept Physio went beyond my expectations! Melanie Flitt’s level of expertise is very impressive as was her attention to detail. She explained my complex condition to me in a way I could understand and, after a very thorough assessment, she left mw feeling hopeful and with renewed inspiration and motivation to work hard towards my goals. “My husband has started physiotherapy here and has continued to make progress with Melanie and her team. He had spinal cord injury from a planned surgery 6 months ago. “I have been a patient at Concept for about two years, initially with Kelly and then with Melanie. I suffered a very serious stroke and am a challenging case, to say the least. I generally see Melanie three times a week and she works on increasing the strength and mobility In my arms and, simultaneously, on my ultimate goal of walking again. “I have have more than a half dozen physiotherapists and occupational therapists in my recovery from a stroke (a traumatic brain injury) and I received the most personalized care towards my recovery goals at Concept Physio. Instead of the standard therapy given to each patient at the hospital, Laura Hussie at Concept Physio tailored our sessions to work towards many of my recovery goals in parallel and provided Insight into other affliction I was suffering (frozen shoulder). Her experience as both a nurse and physiotherapist made me feel more comfortable and trusting of working with her on my recovery therapy. The versatility she had to work on many parts of my body and various recovery objectives made her indispensable. “After first being an in-patient and then out-patient at Lyndhurst, I was looking for a facility that would be as specialized in neurological conditions (incomplete paraplegia) but closer to home. Concept came highly recommended. The entire staff at Concept are so welcoming and understand the brain and body connection as well as the brain and spinal cords ability to recover and adapt. The staff is passionate about helping to move their clients along a rehabilitation continuum. My primary physiotherapist is Kelly. His knowledge and ability to assess and pivot treatments makes our sessions very useful. “After spinal decompression/fusion surgery last November, I could not walk without assistance, my balance was off and for four months I could not function the way I was used to. My family physician recommended Concept Physiotherapy and I signed up right away. After initial assessment, Kelly and I started on my way to recovery. After several sessions I started to notice improvements in my walk and balance. Now, two months since I started my rehab I see significant improvement. Kelly showed me video he took of me walking at the start of rehab and another just recently. Wow what a difference. I feel better and have more positive outlook after my surgery.
