About Kandis
Kandis was born in Red Deer, but raised in Drayton Valley. She devoted herself into volunteering at community events and the church, as well played on sports teams. Upon graduating high school she attended Vanguard College and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Theology with Intercultural Studies. During that time she visited Ukraine 5 times, once with CANADEM as an election observer during the Orange Revolution. She served the homeless and street children there, and fell in love with the country.
Since then she dedicated her life into administration, worked in the dental field, dabbled in IT, and decided to make a shift into becoming a Massage Therapist, and then a Manual Osteopathic Therapist. She graduated from ACMT for Massage Therapy 2200 hrs and MOCC for Manual Osteopathic Therapy 1100 hrs and recently completed her Complete Decongestive Therapist course (Vodder Technique).
Kandis has served Sylvan Lake via Shake The Lake committee, the Optimist Club, Sylvan Lake HART, SLMBA and through her church. She also has served at every level of elections including Internationally!
Her main training offerings are:
Therapeutic Massage, Relaxation Massage, Deep Tissue Massage
Her extra modalities she offers are:
Level 2 TMJ therapy, Dynamic and lymph suction cupping, Prenatal Massage
As a Manual Osteopath:
Visceral Manipulation, Myofascial release, Craniosacral therapy (not on children),
Osteoarticulations
She also is a Complete Lymphatic Therapist, which means she is trained in manual lymphatic drainage, compression, exercise and treatment for lymphedema. Please note that at this time she can only offer MLD and refers out for compression. She is also on the list of approved therapists on the Alberta Lymphedema Association.
At an appointment, you can expect an assessment, treatment, and a treatment plan at your appointment. She is dually licensed and can direct bill for most insurances, including for MOT treatments. However, please double check that your insurance covers these treatments and allows direct billing.
Please note at this time Canada Life does NOT cover MOT treatments.
Outside of work, she is a mom of 2 and wife of an amazing man for 17+ years!
She looks forward to giving back to the community, and most of all meeting YOU!
