Full Bio:
Dr. Emily Mack is a Registered Psychologist with a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta. She has extensive training and experience in both psychological assessment and intervention across clinical, medical, occupational, and community settings.
Her professional background includes work with first responders, survivors of domestic violence, medical and oncology patients, psychiatry inpatients, and individuals involved with Workers’ Compensation Board Traumatic Psychological Injury (TPI) and Brain Injury (BI) programs. She brings a strong understanding of trauma, rehabilitation, and complex mental health presentations to her clinical work.
While Dr. Mack has formal training in multiple evidence-based therapeutic approaches, her work at Balance is focused on adult psychological assessment. She is committed to providing clear, respectful, and clinically meaningful evaluations that support diagnostic clarity, treatment planning, vocational decision-making, and personal insight.
Dr. Mack also has a strong research background in suicide risk and prevention and is a former recipient of the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Her approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and strengths-based, with an emphasis on helping individuals better understand their psychological functioning and future possibilities.
Outside of her work in psychology, Emily is also an avid traveller and lover of food. She can often be found checking out new restaurants, hiking around Kananaskis, or cooking a new recipe at home. She is also a fan of live music, gardening, and co-op board games!
