David is a Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncturist committed to helping people optimize their health and wellbeing. He graduated Summa Cum Laude (with highest distinction) from the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program at Pacific Rim College in Victoria, where he was the valedictorian of his graduating class.
David is a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.) through the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia. His treatments are therefore eligible for coverage under the Government of Yukon benefits plan, as well as many other benefit plans.
He has long been drawn to Traditional Chinese Medicine for its focus on treating the whole person, on restoring balance and on reminding the body of its innate healing powers. He was also inspired by his own amazing healing experiences as a patient of Dr. Xiu-Mei Zhang and the late Dr. Jim Zheng at their East-West Clinic and wanted to be able to offer Traditional Chinese Medicine to others suffering from pain and disease.
David’s lifelong love of nature was a bridge into Traditional Chinese Medicine. After many years working to conserve the balance of nature and to build and deepen the connection between people and the land and water around them, it was not a large leap for David to become captivated by the interplay of yin and yang that lies at the heart of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Much of the wisdom underpinning this healing art derives from observation of the natural world and its cycles and processes over millennia.
David remains passionate about healing and is continually expanding and deepening his knowledge and practice of integrative medicine. In addition to his formal acupuncture training, he has broadened his skills through studies with a number of highly skilled teachers. In 2019, he studied with Bruce Bentley, one of the world’s foremost experts on cupping therapy, earning an Advanced Certificate of Integrated Cupping Therapy. He has studied Japanese Pediatric acupuncture and Pediatric Tuina (massage) to expand the treatments he can offer to his smallest clients. He also received a certificate in Acusculpting® from the founder of that cosmetic acupuncture practice, Illya Borreson.
David is a cancer survivor and holds an International Certificate in Oncology Acupuncture from the TCM Academy of Integrative Medicine.
He has called Yukon home for twenty years and loves every minute he spends with his boys Keir and Ekam.
