She was first introduced to Pilates while in the Modern Dance program at Grant MacEwan College. She received her Classical Pilates certifications from the Dianne Miller Pilates Center in Vancouver and Embody Pilates in Canmore and has been teaching since 2001. Her passion for movement led her to New York and Miami to study Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis – she is currently is a Pre-Trainer offering teacher trainings for the method. With Classical Pilates as the foundation, she draws on her knowledge and experience of many modalities to create tailored classes and programs for her clients. She is a certified Pre and Postnatal specialist who loves working with new moms, pre-professional dancers and seniors. She is a kind, generous teacher who believes that “Every moment of our life can be the beginning of great things” (Joseph Pilates, Return to Life) Lorissa’s interest in how the human body moves led her to beginning her Osteopathic school studies in 2021.
