Waited in the maternity section with my 7 months pregnant wife who was having sharp cramps. We waited 6 hours, seemed as if they had forgotten we were even there. Then after having the Dr and staff giggling behind the counter for 20 minutes the Dr casually walked away and we were told it was an emergency and given no time limit and were encouraged to leave without speaking with a Dr to give us any answers. We waited for 6 hours and watched as other couples arrived, were treated, had their follow up with the Dr and released while we sat forgotten. Terrible experience and complete waste of our time.

Absolute kudos for all Staff, Support, Tech, Nurses & Doctors! I could not have had better care. You work hard & do it well. Food was good for me, often more than I could eat. Thank you all so much🙏 *Me? 20 years Heavy duty mechanic, 40 years martial arts, 32 years Merchant, my own club, 71 years young. Cheers *Expect 10-12 hours for assessment at ER, it's the current norm & no reflection of the fine people grinding here, day after day.

My Experience Living with ESRD, Dialysis, and Unbearable Pain I have been living in constant, excruciating pain for eight weeks. I’m a dialysis patient with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), dealing with severe bone degradation and nerve pain that makes it almost impossible to think, focus, or function. The pain comes in waves of unbearable intensity, and despite trying to push through, it has reached the point of total exhaustion. Systemic Failures and Gaps in Care 1. Pharmacy limitations My pharmacy only delivers medications on Fridays, leaving me without proper relief for days. Attempts to arrange emergency or mid-week pickups have been unsuccessful. 2. Dialysis team The dialysis team can only offer regular Tylenol, which is completely ineffective for this level of pain. 3. Emergency Room experiences I have waited up to 12 hours in the ER only to receive one hydromorphone pill, which does almost nothing for ESRD-related bone and nerve pain. The ER’s current protocols fail to provide meaningful or sustained relief. 4. Family doctor response My doctor has not acted urgently, leaving me to endure weeks of agony. I am considering switching family doctors if this continues. 5. Restricted access to cannabis Cannabis has been my only effective option for relief. I am not allowed to use it legally in the hospital, and I cannot afford to purchase it, leaving me trapped without any real relief. Coping Strategies Tried and Limitations I have attempted mind over matter, limited cannabis use, music therapy, breathing exercises, and other coping techniques. Despite these efforts, the pain remains torture-level, severely impacting my physical and mental functioning. Impact on My Life The pain is more than physical — it affects my mental health, focus, and daily functioning. The ongoing lack of adequate care has left me exhausted, frustrated, and at my breaking point. I feel like I am waiting for the end because the suffering is becoming unmanageable. > No patient should have to “tough it out” for eight weeks of constant, unbearable pain while systems fail to provide timely relief. Feelings About Current Care This is not what end-of-life care should be. True palliative care is supposed to focus on effective pain management, dignity, and quality of life, not leaving patients to suffer in agony. I feel neglected, frustrated, and trapped by the system. I have considered suing for neglect, because this may qualify as medical negligence given repeated failures of care and coordination. What I Need from the Healthcare System 1. Urgent access to proper pain relief Tylenol is inadequate; I require medications and interventions safe for ESRD patients. 2. Better pharmacy coordination Emergency partial fills or alternate pickup options to avoid long stretches without medication. 3. Pain management referral A clinic that understands ESRD-safe protocols, including opioids, nerve medications, and other interventions. 4. Integrated care coordination Between dialysis teams, family doctors, pharmacies, and the ER to prevent patients from falling through the cracks. Immediate Coping Strategies While Waiting for Proper Care Even without access to effective medications, I am trying to survive using: Positioning: cushions, supportive seating, or gentle movement to reduce pressure. Mind-body techniques: guided breathing, meditation apps, or distracting music. Support: reaching out to friends, family, or patient advocacy groups for guidance or temporary resources. Closing Thoughts I have fought hard through this. I’ve endured more than I thought possible. But I am reaching my limit. I do not want to wait 12 hours in the ER for one pill. I do not want to suffer because pharmacy deliveries are slow or doctors are unresponsive. I do not have access to cannabis, my only effective relief, and no way to obtain it. The pain is escalating to the point I can no longer handle it. I deserve dignity, compassion, and proper pain management. This is not just discomfort — it is torture, and it cannot continue.

My father has been in your care since April 15th at 2100. He has suffered a major stroke and is currently in comfort care. I am in another province and working on coming there soon however while he has been in your care random people have posed as his family and staff has given them medical updates. They are not! I am his ONLY daughter and living kin other than my 3 children. His personal belongings have gone missing as his nurse Chris tonight has told me there is absolutely nothing in his room. People have taken pictures of him on his death bed. I am beyond not impressed and completely disgusted at this entire situation. Yes he is dying but how sick to have him be cared for this way! I 100% do NOT recommend this hospital after the last 3 days I have experienced!

It seems that minimum care is something that they build their values on. A procrastination that I have not encounter even in the poorest of countries. And the answer to any question is: this is how the medical system works!!!! How is the Board of directors evaluating their doctors' performances??? Or are they?

I just had kidney surgery and from surgical admissions to post operative care I had a great experience. My doctor ( Dr. Dinesh Samarasekera )and a team of nurses and anesthesiologist took care of business with an successful cancer removal. After surgery I was cold , thirsty and in a lot of pain. I wish I could remember the nurse’s name that took care of me then because she did a wonderful job of calming me down and comforting me and warming me up and assessing my pain level and supplying the pain killers to get me through. She also got me started on my deep breathing exercises to aid with my recovery and kept on me to make sure I kept doing it even though it hurt. Once they got me stable I was takin upstairs to my room where the nurse introduced herself then assessed my pain level and got me settled in. In the two nights I was there I was attended by 4 nurses,a student nurse and teacher and a physiotherapist to get me moving. All of them listened to my issues and were very knowledgeable of what I was going through. This was my first major surgery and I really felt I was well takin care of. They were quite a busy bunch with a lot do and many patients to take care of. I have nothing but high praise for the people that work there. Thanks to all of you.
