“Originally was referred to Owen Sound for my pregnancy, however the incompetency of the staff there made me ask my GP to change my referral to Walkerton Family Birthing Centre as my husband had heard good reviews from coworkers. Walkerton accepted my referral right away and got in contact with my asap for my prenatal appointments. Every staff there. from front desk, to nurses, to physicians, were all so professional and welcoming. They answered all my questions and provided me with such support and comfort. I wanted a c section, but was so nervous that they would reject that and felt judged, but when I mentioned it to the physicians there, no one rejected me or judged me. In fact they helped me make the most informed decision for my own care. I especially want to commend Dr. Schipper who I only met once during my first prenatal appointment there, but she was so friendly and approachable. Not only that, she even remembered to pass on my information to the next physician I was seeing a week later. The facilities there during my stay after birth was well kept and clean as well. “Our baby was born at this birthing center and being the first-time parents my wife and I were anxious about the whole process from beginning but everyone at the birthing center was so helpful & patient in dealing with us despite being busy with others. “I want to take a moment to share my positive experience at the hospital while I was stuck there due to my truck being down for work. As part of the company that services the hospital and handles their medical waste, I found myself waiting for a tow. I was directed to a lounge area to sit and wait, which was very much appreciated during this unexpected situation. One person who truly stood out was Duncan. He was extremely helpful and made my time there much more comfortable. It’s refreshing to encounter such good people in the world. “The staff in the ER talk very loud. I sat there for 3 hours before I was seen by a doctor, and that was only because i felt like leaving without being seen. He said some things that made me wonder what it had to do with my situation. This town takes gossip on strangers and abuses it badly. One or maybe two staff members were nice. “Called the switchboard to inquire about ER wait times, they don’t provide estimated wait times. Ok no problem. Is there an X-ray technician in? Yes, until 7:00pm. We rush my husband in to get his back x-rayed. He waited for 3 hours before being told there was no X-ray tech in on Sundays. Why didn’t the receptionist know that? Why didn’t triage know that? Not the first time staff there have proven to be ‘out to lunch’. Also went to diagnostic imaging with a retained placenta. Doctor told me he would call me with results the next day. Ended up going to London where I was seen and treated within 24 hours. Took 2 weeks for doctor from Walkerton to even call me back.. just to tell me.. “looks like something is floating around but hard to tell what it is.” Steer clear. “I had my baby here in may 2023. The nurses and doctors were exceptional. They ensured that i was completely ready to leave the hospital before sending me home. I had an emergency c section and the team of doctors were all present to ensure I had a safe procedure. Nurses also worked around the clock to ensure I was taking my meds. I had a positive birthing experience with the ob-gyn team. They were also very kind, had excellent bedside manner, and took care of all my questions and queries. “It was my first time at this hospital. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy and I was incredibly sick from the prep drink. The day surgery nurse was so kind and empathetic to how terrible I felt and really went out of her way to keep me comfortable till my procedure. I am so grateful to the day surgery team at SBGHC who made sure i was given the best care. Awesome people!!”Read moreShow less

“This rating is strictly reflective on one particular “doctor” named Kyle Scheuerman the single handed worst, inexperienced doctor we’ve ever experienced. My wife was in severe pain and was left for hours while she cried and begged for help. Despite looking in to her medical records to show how her symptoms were last treated, he decided that he was just going to ignore her previous records and medications that worked and give her everything BUT the medication she needed. He went on to say that “electrolytes” and “anti nausea” medicine was good enough to help the pain and that she was doing better (yes HE actually told US that what he gave us was working) which clearly was not the case. We had been there for 8 hours and her symptoms and pain never really changed and he was prepared to keep dragging it out as long as possible to Guinea pig her on several more medications that were proven (and on record) to not work but he was going to try them anyway. After a pointless CT scan that *surprise surprise* showed nothing and 8 hours later we ended up just leaving “against medical advice” because my wife would rather be in pain in her own bed as opposed to a hot, stuffy hospital room with and uncomfortable bed and under the “care” of an incapable “doctor” . Well doc it’s safe to say your medical advice is absolutely horrific and I would highly encourage you to find a new profession and perhaps some compassion while you’re at it.
