I received a response from Yana acknowledging what had happened, explaining the situation, and offering a resolution that demonstrated NESTERRA's commitment to making things right. I appreciate the steps that were taken and can say that, while no company is perfect, a willingness to resolve issues speaks volumes. I am pleased with their responsiveness and ownership of the situation. Original Review: I had my first massage at NESTERRA on July 20, 2026, and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. Before booking my appointment, I specifically asked whether my massage therapist was a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and whether direct billing through insurance was available. I was assured that my therapist was registered and that direct billing was supported. After my appointment, I went to the front desk expecting to pay only the portion not covered by my insurance. Instead, I was told there was an issue with NESTERRA's system and that they were unable to process direct billing for the therapist I had seen. I asked whether this would affect my ability to submit the claim myself and was assured it would not. Based on that information, I paid the full amount. When I submitted my claim to my insurance provider, it was denied because the therapist did not meet my plan's eligibility requirements. I then attempted to verify the therapist's credentials through the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba (MTAM) and the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC), including searching their public directories, but I was unable to confirm the therapist's registration through those resources. While I recognize that public directories may not always reflect every active member, the fact remains that my insurer determined the provider was not eligible under my plan. The most concerning part of this experience is that I repeatedly asked in advance whether the therapist was registered and whether my appointment would be eligible for insurance coverage. Had I been given accurate information, I would have booked with a different therapist or chosen a different clinic. I was also charged the full rate rather than a discounted student rate. I later noticed that the provider was listed as a student on NESTERRA's website, despite my having paid the full rate. Regardless, the treatment was ultimately not eligible for reimbursement as I had been led to expect. I contacted NESTERRA to request reimbursement for the portion I reasonably expected my insurance to cover based on the information I had been given. They responded by acknowledging the issue, taking responsibility, and working with me toward a satisfactory resolution. Although my initial experience left me frustrated, I appreciate how the situation was ultimately handled. My recommendation to others is to independently confirm that a therapist meets their specific insurance plan's eligibility requirements before booking, even if direct billing is offered.”Read moreShow less
